Have you guys started making plans for the upcoming Holidays? We have decided for sure that we want to add a special tradition to our family this year. We have always had a fake tree, but this year we are going to get a real tree. I am really looking forward to the Christmassy smell and more authentic "feel" of a real tree.
I have been trying to make some decisions on which gifts to purchase for my six kids. I can't specify the types of gifts here since they might read this, but I have been browsing a comparative shopping portal called
Shop.com. They have a special section totally devoted to the
holidays. It contains holiday tips, products, coupons and free shipping deals. They also offer buying guides, contests and a huge variety of products which will inspire gift giving ideas for everyone on your list. I have 3 ten year old girls and I noticed they offer links to merchants which offer name brand items for half off. Please share any great deals you find at
shop.com.

I'm excited. My dad and I are doing a completely giftless Christmas this year!! And so are my brothers and I. I'm getting my mom and step-dad a little something, and my grandparents, but that's it. It is going to be so wonderful!!
You and I sound in reverse....yall want to get the real tree and I want a pretend one this year. We always go and cut one down, my husband & I but that means we wait to put it up so it won't dry out too fast before Christmas...and because of the drying out....we don't have a lot of humidity but we keep water in the stand...anyway....we have to take it down sooner than I like. So THIS year I want a really tall and skinny fake one and put it up the day after Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to the holidays also -- it is my favorite time of year!!! Thanks for sharing those sites...I want to check them out. Have a great day, friend.
@Papillon_Mom - If I don't get some clients for my biz, we may be going "giftless" as well. Out of necessity... don't know how my 6 kids will take that, but I guess we will make the most of it. ;)
Christmas around here is always a busy time, but we love this holiday, we use to get a real tree for most of are married life but the last few years we have a fake one, I do miss going out and cutting down a real one. but this works out better for us, we have a family Christmas party with all the brothers and there families then Christmas eve we have are family Christmas exchange and dinner, then Christmas day they all stop in again and also my hubby side of the family comes . There is also church plays to go to and sometimes we go out christmas caroling with friends, I have a few things done as far as shopping, are daughter and family will be here on Thangiving from SC so i try and get there's done first so they can take them home. Thanks for the tip on the site of shop .com i will check it out
i'm going simple. carols, handmades, and sweets. money is so overrated.
Holidays? What holidays?
Thanks for the shop.com link, I will have to check it out. We have always had a real Maine Christmas tree until about 8 years ago. I REALLY miss the smell of a real tree so I think we are going to put one up this year
.
Hello I saw you dropped by on my footprints, I love a real tree just hate the clean up. I would like to have a new tree though since we have moved here the room is much bigger & a bigger tree would be nice. But I don't know if we can afford it, we'll see. Thanks for the link I will check it out.
Happy Thanksgiving/holidays,
Linda
Yeah, I actually did this post as an assignment for blogsvertiser and they rejected it so i am just so NOT going to do that anymore. I tried to put as much of my own self into as possible so it did not sound like an ad for shop.com (which really is a decent site btw) but I don't have time to waste re-doing things for blogsvertiser. I can make much better $ with my time spent elsewhere.
